CarBrowse uses a small number of cookies that are necessary for the site to work. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. We do use Google Analytics for visit statistics, described below, which you can switch off at any time.

Visit statistics
We use Google Analytics to count visits, see which pages are used, and understand the devices and browsers people use and how they found us, so we can improve this site. It sets two first-party cookies, _ga and _ga_ followed by an identifier, which last up to 13 months. We receive aggregate reports only: page views, approximate location at town or region level, device type and referring site. We do not use Google’s advertising features, Google signals or audience profiles, and we do not share this data with Google for its own purposes. Google acts as our processor and may process the data outside the UK under its transfer safeguards. Detailed event data is deleted after 2 months. We do not run analytics on signed-in or account pages, and we remove personal details such as postcodes from page addresses before they are sent. You can switch visit statistics off at any time using “Analytics settings” in the footer. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track signal, we treat it as switching analytics off.
Cookies set by our infrastructure
Cloudflare, which sits in front of the site to serve it quickly and block abuse, may set its own strictly-necessary cookies (for example __cf_bm) for bot management. These are set by Cloudflare, may involve device and connection information used for security, and are covered by Cloudflare’s own policies.
Local storage
When you save private or dealer cars or add cars to comparison, we store their advert identifiers in this browser using bivetica-cars-dealer-shortlist-v1 and bivetica-cars-compare-v1. These provide the feature you request and remain until you remove the choices or clear browser storage. When signed in, shortlist identifiers are also stored with your account for cross-device saving. Pending account changes use bivetica-cars-shortlist-pending until sync succeeds. We use bivetica-cars-shortlist-owner to keep the browser cache associated with the right account and clear account-linked saves when sign-out is detected. Comparison stays in this browser. Advert drafts are stored with your account on our server.
Hosted payments
If you continue to Bivetica Invoice and a payment provider such as Stripe or GoCardless to pay for a Bivetica service, their pages may use cookies or similar storage for the payment journey and security. Stripe Checkout, its billing portal and optional Link features may use cookies or similar technologies for payment, authentication, remembered details and fraud prevention. Read Stripe’s cookie policy, Stripe’s privacy notice, the notices on those pages and GoCardless’s payer privacy notice. They do not process vehicle purchase payments through Cars.
Managing cookies
You can clear or block cookies in your browser settings. Blocking the session cookie will stop you from staying signed in, but browsing and enquiring will still work.
